Yoga Therapy uses the principles of Yoga to support individuals to manage their health challenges.
Chronic pain, health challenges and recovery from injury often require a multi faceted plan to bring the body back to ultimum health. Yoga therapy is about exploring and applying a holistic and encompassing approach to achieving and maintaining well being. The Yoga Therapist uses the flagship principles of Yoga in order to assist the student - appropriate asana (postures and movements), pranayama (breath awareness and techniques), meditation (including mudra) diet and lifestyle, including relaxation techniques. Yoga Therapy is most commonly provided by way of an individual consultation, although small therapeutic groups may be offered for those experiencing similar health issues. You do not need to have prior yoga experience to benefit from Yoga Therapy. What is the difference between yoga and yoga therapy? While yoga is a healthy pursuit that can benefit it's practitioners in its general form, yoga therapy is an evolving field which focuses on using evidence-based yogic practices in the treatment of specific health conditions. |
